ENT MIR Five Rules for the Study of Otolaryngology

Medical students are concerned about the MIR. Is a more than reasonable if we consider his professional future depends largely on how to do this test on a single card.

In recent years, students ask me what I should be aware of otolaryngology, I reply that study because it dominates in a couple of days and because they always fall, at least five questions, being more profitable than other subjects.

Despite this, some people ask me what "can fall." I reply that there are five things in my field you need to know for the MIR, which are:

1. That before any chronic ear discharge is described in the wording of the question as "offensive " should mark the response cholesteatoma. This in real life is a lie, because all are pretty otorreas stink, but hey, it works the MIR.

2. That all pregnant that in the middle of the block of questions ENT, begins to hear evil has otosclerosis. Yet another fallacy considerable, because hearing loss in pregnancy may correspond to any disease.

3. Which primarily unilateral middle ear effusion in an adult are calling for a response related check with your nose and not to the ear. This question has been repeated ad nauseam in the history of MIR, it is very important because it require any medical examination to be prepared to remember the cavum cancer screening.

4. That every smoker with a hoarseness of more than one week duration should be reviewed by a specialist , because that is a cancer of the larynx until proven otherwise and, if subject to revision, there is a suspicious lesion should be biopsied. This question is also quite good because, any physician should be alert for a smoker with dysphonia.

5. That the above rules have worked so far in all the reviews, but despite that must be applied with caution in future reviews.

I hope you will be helpful. And just in case, the golden rule: to hesitate between two or three having ruled out other options, most likely the correct answer is number 4.
